

Muriel Genevieve Cook (L’Ecuyer) passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Merry Burgess at her side December 12, 2022 at the age of 101 years. Muriel, daughter of William E. Cook and Mary V. Gallagher Cook was born Feb. 2, 1921 in Springfield Mass.
She was predeceased in death by her mother Mary in 1932, her father William in 1957, and later her brother Robert Cook in 1999. She is survived by her sister Jane Shawn. Muriel excelled in piano, educational studies, public speaking and earned a scholarship to the University of Tampa. It was here she earned a B.S. in Economics and met her future husband Dr. James S. Willis. They married on July 12th, 1942, and together their love, friendship, and marriage lasted 71 years. Muriel’s life was centered on her family, her church, and her willingness to assist her husband by managing the practice and serving in professional organizations. Jim proceeded Muriel in death in 2013. They are survived by their five children Dr. Wayne (Carole Anne) Willis, Carol Gaskin, Meredith Burgess, Candace (Don) Rogers, and Constance (Jerome) Reddish, 11 grandchildren with one deceased, and 18 great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan.7, 2023 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Hwy. Pensacola Fl. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m.
