

Nettie was born on August 13, 1937, and grew up with two brothers in Hixson, Tennessee, as the daughter of Charles Franch Hartbarger and Margaret Lewis Hartbarger. In 1950, her family moved to Pensacola, where she completed her schooling and graduated from Pensacola High School.
In March of 1955, Nettie met Dwight Barron while she was working at Moulton Drug Store. They married on May 21, 1955, and soon after, began their family. Nettie and Dwight had two children, Dwight Jr., born in 1956, and Jacquelin, born in 1959. The family traveled extensively for Dwight's work as a civil engineer, and commercial construction superintendent before settling back in Pensacola in 1968. It was during this time that Nettie was particularly known for her exceptional skills as a seamstress, creating drapes for many people.
Nettie attended Pensacola Jr. College and completed nursing school in 1970 to better care for her husband, Dwight, who faced heart issues and underwent two open-heart surgeries before his passing in 1978. After graduation, Nettie worked at Sacred Heart, specializing in ICU/dialysis, and later transitioned to West Florida and then Ophthalmology Medical Center Clinic with Dr Lockland Tyler. She retired at the age of 62.
In her retirement, Nettie continued to engage in her passion for sewing while taking pride in her gardening. She was also a talented baker, known for the cakes and baked goods she made for her loved ones, including her bible study group at church. Nettie was an active and faithful member of Olive Baptist Church where she participated in Precept Bible Study group for 25 years. Additionally, she enjoyed staying active by being part of a local bowling league.
Nettie was known for her neighborly and caring nature, always taking care of others. Her legacy of kindness and service to others will be remembered by all who knew her.
Nettie is preceded in passing by her spouse, Dwight Barron Sr., parents, Charles and Margaret Hartbarger, her brothers and her best friend and neighbor of 55 years, Joan Arrant. She is survived by her children, Dwight Barron Jr. and Jacquelin (Larry) Posey; grandchildren, William (Lauren) Posey, Nathan (Sarah) Posey and 3 others; great-grandchildren, Jefferson Posey and 4 others; cousin, John (Ilene) Acres; as well as other extended family members, Nathan Botts, Betsy Botts and Big John Botts.
Visitation will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, FL 32503, on December 22, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nettie's honor to Olive Baptist Church, The Charis House Ministry at Olive Baptist Church, or the Alzheimer's Association.
