Ouida Inez Johnson

1930 – 2012

Ouida Inez Johnson went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 06, 2012. She was 81, born in Hartford, Alabama on November 07, 1930. She graduated from Bonifay High School in 1948. She attended East Brent Baptist Church.

After getting married and having two children, she went to cosmetology school. She began working as a licensed cosmetologist in 1964. After several years she opened her own salon known as Ouida’s Salon of Beauty. She made lifelong friends and shared the love of laughter throughout her years of service. She retired in 1997 after 33 years to spend more time with her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Wayne Johnson for 63 years. Ouida loved to cook and garden, but most of all she loved her family. She was a loving and extraordinary mother and granny.

Ouida is survived by her son, Garry W. (Susan) Johnson; daughter, Sharon (Michael) Jobe; five grandchildren, Christopher Rahn, Nicole Johnson, Bradford (Katie) Rahn, Candice Johnson and Cameron Johnson; two surviving sisters, Ann Carter and Mary Matthews; as well as many nieces nephews and cousins.

Ouida was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Johnson; her parents, W. Louie Matthews and Frances Matthews; a sister, Ruth Wachob and a brother, Louie Frank Matthews.

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Dr. Wesley Wachob officiating.

Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park.
