Mrs. Thompson grew up in Eastern Kentucky and after her marriage to husband David, spent many years traveling the world during his time in the US Army.
She always remained a small town mountain girl who loved the simple life. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed traveling the United States via RV seeing all the majesty of God's beautiful creations.
Her love of life was truly genuine and she lived it to the fullest. She was gentle, kind and had a joyous spirit that was loved by all those who had the privilege to know her.
A devoted Wife, Mother and "Granny" who was ever present at ball games, tournaments, recitals, band competitions, scouts, community service events and family functions. She was there with a smile on her face, ready to cheer on all the kids, even her "adopted" kids. She loved serving family, friends and her community.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, David. Her Mother and Father as well as three sisters and one brother.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her six children, 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Sacred Heart Hospital for all the loving care during her time there. A special thanks to Covenant Hospice for the tender care and loving patience toward the family during those most difficult of days. It was truly gift to have had such great care of our Mother and Granny.
A Memorial Service will take place at 10:30 am Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am. Inurnment will immediately follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, David Anderson Thompson.
