Richard loved simplicity.  I enjoyed going to sporting events with Richard with the best being RTHS games on the road.  That kept with his low key way.  That was a long time ago, but Richard stayed true.  His warmth and laugh are greatly missed in Rantoul

Mr Grove,
Thank you!  For sharing your wisdom, technical know-how, and compassion with the next generation of aircraft Structural maintainers. You inspired us to have to touch class, connect us to something bigger than ourselves, and gave meaning to the complexities of life. I will never forget you Mr Grove. nor your distinctive look wearing your signature suspenders.

Have only known Richard for the last few years, but we spent a lot of time on the golf course talking baseball--he loved his Cardinals!  I'll miss you, Richard.

I enjoyed working with you at Chanute AFB, Illinois.  You had a positive impact on so many young airmen.

I'll never forget you and I sharing our very first day at Chanute AFB---you at one desk and me next to you.  We went through the instructor training program together and the rest is history. We had lots of shared laughs and sorrows. We're so glad you stayed in touch with us as long as you did.

Mr. Groves, you touched thousands of lives teaching Aircraft Structural Maintenance throughout the years.  Thank you for being a great teacher, mentor and a caring person.  May God welcome you home into Heaven with open arms.  Rest in peace brother.

Richard's sincere friendship has lasted throughout the years and brings cherished memories of our time together at Chanute AFB. His wit and charm was a joy to all.

So many lives were touched by your presence. You were a great mentor to the new instructors coming on board--as well as to your students.  I can't imagine a better individual to introduce young airmen to our career field.  The impact you had on their lives, as well as the impact you've had in service to your country cannot be measured. You will be missed terribly!

Richard, you have been an inspiration to many. You have shared kind words to many and encouraged people for years. You have been a good friend and supported not just me but our nation and our country. My memories of you are all positive. I pray you are welcomed with open arms by our heavenly father.
