Robert Claude Taylor, beloved father, stepfather, uncle, and friend, passed away on July 13, 2025, in his hometown of Pensacola, Florida, at the age of 90. Born on March 25, 1935, in Pensacola, Robert lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a profound impact on those around him.
After graduating from Pensacola High School, Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Antietam. Following his military service, he dedicated over 30 years of his life to driving trucks for Consolidated Freightways, where he was known for his work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Robert was a kind and sweet soul with a genuine heart, always ready with a smile and a good-natured quip. His signature phrases, “whatcha know good” and “I appreciate you,” will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He had a diverse array of hobbies, including fishing, and was a devoted fan of Southern Raceway, car racing, and wrestling. His adventurous spirit shone brightly when he built a delightful playhouse on stilts for his children, showcasing his creativity and dedication to family.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Bear, and her husband, Lewis Bear III; son Robert "Spence" Taylor and his wife, Tamey Taylor; stepsons Chris Chapman and his wife, Paola Chapman, and Jeff Chapman and his wife, Teri Chapman; stepdaughter Renee Grimmett and her husband, Stanley Grimmet; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. His warm-hearted nature was matched only by his sense of humor, especially regarding his journey through love—after all, who can say they’ve had three wives without a good laugh? Robert's ability to find joy and humor in life’s twists and turns made him truly special.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Baptist Healthcare for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. Military honors will be held during the committal service.
