Ronald James Scott was born on September 23, 1949, in Iowa City. He passed away on September 29, 2025, at the age of 76. Ron was a resident of Pensacola, Florida. He passed away surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by care, loyalty, and pride in those he cherished.
Ron leaves behind his beloved wife, Susan; his son, Zachary, and daughter-in-law, Bia; his daughter, Deanna and son-in-law, Bill; his son, Darrik, and daughter-in-law, Kristina; and his treasured grandson, Forrest. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Scott, and family (Linda, Kyle, and Kristen) of Honolulu, Hawaii; and his sister, Leilani Beardsley, and family (Jim, Jennifer, Isla, and Scott) of Baldwinsville, New York.
Family was the center of Ron’s world. He lived with a spirit of ohana—the Hawaiian belief that family extends beyond bloodlines, embracing love, respect, and shared responsibility. He carried this value throughout his life, ensuring his family knew they were deeply supported and cared for.
Ron will be remembered for so many things but especially his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and the pride he took in being a steady, guiding presence to them. He was also a captivating story teller, amazing basketball player (there is a great story of the time he beat Jim Boeheim when they were both players), avid golfer, pool player, and so many other sports. His legacy will continue through the lives of his loved ones along with so many others he touched throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Ron’s life and the many ways he brought joy and strength to his immediate and extended family.
