Ronnie Doege was born in Fairhope, AL to Herman Otto Doege and Hazel Elizabeth Doege. Ronnie was the youngest of 6 siblings. Elberta, AL has been the hometown of the Doege Family for nearly a century. He attended school at Foley High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Not long after, Ronnie was deployed to Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart for injuries sustained in combat as well as various other medals for service. Upon returning home, he started a career with the Civil Service and he began building a family of his own. He married Wanda Gauci and had 4 children with her. Though the marriage didn't work out, they still remained as a close knit family. Later in life, Ronnie met Beverly Fletcher, as a coworker in the Civil Service at NAS Pensacola (NADEP), and their relationship grew. Ronnie moved to Pensacola, FL and married Beverly in February of 1995, gaining 2 stepchildren. Ronnie retired from the Civil Service in 1996. Since then, Ronnie held various jobs from being a crabber, a laborer, bridge builder, all the way to working with his oldest sons traveling with concessions. Ronnie was very active with the VFW Post 5658 in Elberta, AL along with his wife, Beverly Doege. He held various rolls from Trustee all the way up to Post Commander. Ronnie was even more active with the Amvets Post 292 organization, even being Post Commander there as well. He had many friends in both organizations that he formed a brotherhood with that lasted his whole life. His 3 sons became members of the Sons Of Amvets and his daughter with the Auxiliary, all in honor of Ronnie. Ronnie led a great life, full of love and happiness. He always had a smile on his face and he loved to joke with people. His heart was as big as his smile. If you knew Ronnie, then you knew a beautiful soul that cared deeply about others. After the passing of his wife Beverly in 2022, Ronnie began getting closer to family. Within the past 2 years, Beth Pouncey came into Ronnie's life. She gave him much joy and happiness. When Ronnie began getting very ill from cancer and all of his treatments, Beth stood strong by his side. She cared for him day and night, never wavering. Beth was with Ronnie up until his last breath. She will never know how much she truly means to us all for loving our father and being his light during his darkest time of fighting his end of life battles.
