Shellee was a woman of kindness, intelligence, and deep empathy; someone who made people feel seen and cared for in a way that was rare. She loved the simple things that made life her own: smoking her Virginia Slims, rooting for the Gators, and watching everything from Lifetime Original Movies to Yellowstone and Game of Thrones.
She had a creative spirit and a generous heart. She enjoyed making bead jewelry and spent time volunteering at the USO. She also had a special fondness for Dutch letters from Jaarsma’s Bakery in Pella, Iowa. She would bring them home on the airplane and store them in the freezer and, if I was lucky, I got some too.
To those closest to her, Shellee will be remembered for the quiet routines that meant everything. Sundays were ours: spent together eating fast food, often Zaxby’s, and watching television. She had an almost supernatural ability to predict plot twists, a gift I was lucky enough to inherit in part. Those Sundays are something I will always carry with me.
She will be deeply missed.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel. A Celebration of Shellee's Life will follow at 2:00 p.m.
