Heaven has called our Angel, Shirley Henrietta Cooley, home. 82, of Myrtle Grove, Shirley passed peacefully on March 15, 2018 and will be deeply missed by her family and everyone that knew her. To know her was to love her and she had never met a stranger. Originally from Portsmouth, Ohio, Shirley married her love Marvin Cooley Sr. in Albuquerque, N.M., raised 4 children as a military wife and mom, and eventually retired after working at the National Naval Aviation Museum at NAS Pensacola for many years. She was a deeply devoted Spouse, Mom, Mammaw, and Great Grandma who loved all unconditionally and could make your heart smile on the darkest of days.
Shirley is now reunited with her beloved husband Marvin Cooley Sr., mother Marinell Williams, father Jesse Earl Williams, and a vast number of beloved relatives and friends that have preceded her in passing.
She is survived by her children, Marvin Cooley Jr.- Pensacola, FL., Diane “Dee” Godwin (Buddy)- Pensacola, FL., Gary Cooley (Kara)- Pace, FL. Gregory Cooley (Gaynor) - U.K., Grandchildren, Donny Baugher (Kim)-Foley, AL., Stephan Cooley Faussignaux (Joachim)- Tallahassee, FL., Melody Hogan (Jade)- Fort Walton Beach, FL., Rebecca Cooley-Pensacola, FL., Jody Davis- Pensacola, FL., Wayne Murphy- Pensacola, FL., Crystal Cooley- Milton FL., Scott Cooley- Milton, FL., Daron Godwin (Kristi)- Pensacola, FL., Dusty Godwin- Pensacola, FL., Gina Harrison (Gareth)-U.K., Gayle Cooley- U.K., Glen Cooley- U.K., numerous great grandchildren, her kitties Punkin and Kitty Kitty, and her very beloved cocker Layla.
A very special “Thank You” is also extended to the loving and caring Covenant Hospice staff that was there for our Angel in her time of need.
Services will be held at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Pensacola, FL. on Tuesday, March 20th, 2018. Family visitation is at 8am and general visitation begins at 9am. Interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on NAS Pensacola at 11am. A reception at Oaklawn Funeral Home will follow.
