Shirley Kania, 89, passed peacefully into God’s loving arms on June 8, 2025, surrounded by her five devoted children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John, with whom she shared 60 beautiful years of marriage.
A faithful and loving mother, Shirley is survived by her devoted son Matthew, who lovingly served as her primary caregiver, along with her children: Mark Kania (Marietta); Mary Zaremba (Darryl); Anne Perry (Tim); and Elizabeth McGirr (John).
She was a proud grandmother to John Perry (April), Christopher Kania (Denise), Kenneth Kania, William Kania, Lauren Sutton (Derek), Erica Naylor (Jake), Adam Zaremba (Meghan), Michael McGirr (Lauren), Jimmy Perry (Abaigeal), Walter Zaremba, and Brooke Brown (Alex).
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Aidan, Greenlee, Jackson, Sage, Luke, Evelyn, Claire, Amelia, Rose, Benjamin, Lillian, Maximilian, John, Grace, and Leo.
Shirley was a woman of strong faith and unwavering love. An active member of Little Flower Catholic Church, she found joy in serving through the St. Teresa Mission, Ladies Sodality, and participating in the Burse Club. She cherished her friendships, especially the many lunches spent laughing with her girlfriends, and she found deep happiness in family gatherings—none more so than Thanksgiving, which she held especially dear.
A proud military wife of 30 years, Shirley supported her husband’s service with grace and resilience, including through two overseas tours. Her life was a testament to loyalty, love, and quiet strength.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Little Flower Catholic Church, a place that gave Shirley so much spiritual joy and community.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Little Flower Catholic Church in Pensacola, Florida.
