Steve Wise was born on December 8, 1949 in Pensacola, FL to John Quincy and Violeta Wise. He was the youngest of four children, survived by sisters Estelle Hill (Bob-deceased), Rebecca Richmond (Ken), and Sue Schweiger (David). He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Nancy Wise. He is survived by his wife of three years and childhood sweetheart, Beverly Wise. He is also survived by his children, America Jayroe with her spouse John and their children Joshua and Lydia, and his son Matthew Wise with his wife Ashley and their children Bayly and Brayden. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. He also had a special bond with Beverly's son, Waylon and considered him one of his own.
Steve loved the Lord and was most recently a member of Calvary Way Full Gospel Church in Pensacola, FL. In his previous church memberships, he served as deacon, choir member, brotherhood, and many other roles in the church.
Steve worked as a salesman most of his life selling insurance and retired from Colonial Funeral Home in Columbia, MS in 2015. More importantly, through his work he invested in relationships with people. Within minutes of meeting almost any person, he had a personal connection with them through a common family member or friend. It was his gift!
Everyone who knew Steve knew fishing was his passion. He loved being out on his boat where he found peace on the water. He loved to talk about the best places to catch fish, the most beautiful spots to fish, and of course how many fish so-and-so caught!
He loved his family and friends. He was a people person who loved spending hours catching up through visits and phone calls. He enjoyed spending time with people, and he just told us all recently how much he loved us all.
Although he had suffered recently more and more with health issues, he woke on the morning of August 15 suffering no more as he entered the gates of Heaven. What a joyous morning that must have been!
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations and gifts may be made to the Gideons International foundation.
