

William “Bill” Bathurst was born March 4, 1926, in Pensacola Florida. He
was the seventh child of Cloyd Davis Bathurst and Henrietta Helen McClusky. He
passed away on February 1, 2022, in Merced California.
Bill wanting to serve his country joined the Navy at the age 17, as radio man
first class in communications. His first duty was the D day invasion of WWII, he
also went on to serve in the Asiatic Pacific theatre, European theatre, African
theatre and for his service received the Victory medal. In September of 1966, he
retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy he
went on work at the Bremerton Washington shipyards then, on to work with Coast
Guard in Seattle Washington. William “Bill” after retirement still felt the call to
serve so, he dedicated himself to volunteerism some of the places he dedicated
himself to were the Street Mens 55 plus, the Soup Kitchen, Street Families, driving
veterans to the hospital, Manna food, the Florida Parks and the Navy hospital for
over 20 years. He also donated to the blood drive over 20 plus gallons during his
lifetime. William had a great love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and
dedicated himself to being a member of NAS Memorial Chapel.
William married the love of his life Kathleen “KT” on May 13,1950 in
Arlington Virginia. Together they had five wonderful children.
William is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Bathurst who, passed
away July 21, 2014. William is survived by his five children: Patricia (Kevin),
Charles “Chuck” (Aiko), John (Diane), Susan (Ken) and William (Christlyn)
thirteen grandchildren Dorothy, Jamie, Andrew, Nichole, Sam, John, Jason,
Benjamin, Kathleen, Elisa, Quisha and Caitlyn and twenty-one great
grandchildren.
The funeral procession will gather at 12:00 PM at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with
Graveside service at 2:00 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery.
