I first met Bill about a year ago while walking my two dogs in the early mornings at Shoreline Park. We struck up a conversation right away, sharing stories of traveling through Scotland - especially the Isle of Skye - and Spain during the 1960s and 70s. What I enjoyed most, though, were his tales of adventures in Alaska with his uncle from North Carolina. I must have heard a few of them more than once, but it never mattered - Bill was the kind of storyteller who made every retelling fresh. People who live big lives are often natural story tellers.

What Bill impressed upon me was a simple truth: no matter what challenges life throws at you, don’t linger in defeat - pick yourself up quickly and press on.

On certain mornings, I’d catch sight of his white pickup and give it a quick salute. It became our quiet ritual. Now, as I continue walking my dogs, there’s a hollow absence where Bill used to be - waiting with a warm greeting, ready to ask how I was doing, and always prepared with another story.

Bill was a true force of nature. Godspeed, my friend.

We will always remember that big smile and huge laugh! The world was a better place for many others having known Craig! 
He loved his family deeply and will leave a huge void in their lives!
Craig was blessed with his lovely Irene of 50 plus years! We pray for peace and comfort during this difficult time for each family member!

Our whole neighborhood is going to miss Bill. He was always out in his driveway talking to whoever came by. He was a staple and a presence looking out for his neighbors and always a giving a cheerful word to everyone. We would look for him as we drove down the street and tried to stop and visit for a few minutes when he was there. A neighbor said he was The Mayor of the Neighborhood.  We are praying that the Lord will give his family comfort, peace and strength.

Mr. Bill was such a dear neighbor and friend. He added kindness and cheer to every day I had the pleasure of seeing or speaking to him.  I wish I could have done as much for him as he did for me. 

It was such a comfort having him next door. He always told me—and I always knew—that he was looking out for me and would help in any way he could. And he helped in so many ways, not just as a neighbor but also as a friend. 

Mr. Bill was unwaveringly kind, caring, and generous, and he was always good for advice and a laugh. He will be missed beyond measure but will be forever remembered in the fondest of ways. Mr. Bill holds a special place in my heart and I’m sure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him and to have him as a friend. ❤️ He was truly one of a kind, and our neighborhood will never be the same without him. 

I send my deepest condolences to Mr. Bill’s family. I know how much he treasured you all, and I know you treasured him as well. You will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

He was “The Mayor of Dolphin St” as the neighbors could count on him always and for everything! He greeted you with a smile and a bit of town knowledge. We will miss him dearly! Love in Christ, the Luttrell family

Sorry to hear of Craig’s passing. He was a good friend in school. We will keep his family in our prayers.
