William B. Oakes

William Bruce Oakes, age 65, of Pensacola, Florida passed away Friday March 9, 2012. He was born July 1, 1946 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Ralph and Jean Oakes. His sister JoAnn Burkett also preceded him in death.

Bill, will be very much missed by his loving wife Susan Oakes, 2 daughters, Kim Carnes and Beth Carroll, 4 grandchildren, Jody Booker, Jared Carnes, Madison Carroll and Kyle Carnes, 3 brothers Jim Oakes (Kathy), Ron Oakes (Chris), Don Oakes (Joann), 2 sisters Barb Mickel (Jim), Jill Oakes and 20 nieces and nephews.

He retired as a Senior Chief in the Navy after 22 years of service in Millington, TN and retired Civil Service in 2008 in Pensacola, FL after 20 years.

He was a 14-year member of the America Legion Post 240 and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 706.

The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice, ICU and 6th floor south of West Florida Hospital for the compassion and care given during our time of need. A special thanks to Dr. Samer AlShurieki (Dr. Sam) for his honesty and kindness.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 1pm at The American Legion Post 240. Burial Services at Barrancas National Cemetery will be this summer.
