

She was born on July 3rd, 1948, in Ahmedabad, India, to Nariman and Rati Jokhy. She married Serin Rao on August 26th,1977, in Peoria. IL.
She is survived by her husband; mother, Rati Jokhy, India; daughter, Dr. Nadia (Dr. Timothy) Day of Scottsdale, AZ; son, Shawn Rao of Springfield, IL; and son, Justin (Amy) Rao of Cincinnati OH; five grandchildren, Ella, Jackson, Amelia, Penelope and Cooper; two sisters, Dilnavaz (Bomi) Dalal and Khursheed (Shishir) Phansalkar of India; one sister-in-law, Sharon Jokhy of Peoria, IL; and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Parvez Jokhy.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics in India and her Masters in English and Economics at Bradley University.
She was employed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) as a Social Worker and Regional Contract Administrator for over 35 years. She retired in 2005.
Aban's love of life was for her husband, her children and their spouses and her grandchildren. She enjoyed her time in retirement traveling the world and visiting with her family.
There will be a private visitation for the immediate family followed by cremation. The ashes will be transported to India for her family ceremonial purposes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
