Barbara Jean Jowers

Barbara was born on November 21, 1957 in Sweet Water, AL to the late Ben and Luvenia (Lawfton) Jowers. They preceded her in death along with one brother, Ben Jowers Jr. and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and one nephew.

After over 20 years of active duty service, that took Barbara across the country and abroad, she retired from the U.S. Marines Corp as a Master Sergeant in 2000 with many military honors, certificates and an honorable discharge.

Barbara leaves to cherish her loving memory, siblings, Elizabeth and George Graham of Peoria, David (Barb) Jowers of Peoria, C.J. and Ruth Jowers of Peoria, Charles and Dian Jowers of Peoria, Andrew and Viola Jowers of Galesburg, Catherine Brickhouse (John Brickhouse) of Peoria, Jessie J. and Jeanie Jowers of Peoria, Bessie Lee and Jerry Vesey of Bettendorf, IA and Polly and Daryl Bacon of Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Grace Apostolic Assembly, 1523 S Laramie St, Peoria, IL 61605. Visitation will be held an hour prior to services at the church.

Burial with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL.
