Bobby K. Franklin

Bobby was born March 5, 1931 to Orville and Elmeda Franklin in Champaign County, IL and lived all of his life in Illinois. He married Della Louise Satterfeal in September 1952. He later married the former Shirley Fribbs on June 2, 1984 in Chillicothe, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Franklin; four children, Robert Franklin of Urbana, IL Doyle (Athena) Franklin of Hayfield, MN Iris (Jim) Ducey of St. Joseph, IL and Keith (Robyn) Franklin of Eyota, MN; step-children, Cheri (Mike) Adams of Bradford, IL Kevin Carlson of Peoria and Julie Kircher of Bradford; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and his brother, Leonard (Dollie) Franklin of Edgewood, IL.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Earl, John, Dale and Ralph; two sisters, Dorothy and Mary; and his step-daughter, Kimberly.

He served in the US Navy from 1948 to 1952. He served aboard the USS Tiru, a submarine stationed in Pearl Harbor.

He loved fishing, woodworking, travel and especially being with family. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting, bowling camping, water skiing and occasionally a game of golf or a good game of euchre.

For his career, he was a professional land surveyor and a professional engineer working primarily in civil engineering.

He was a member and Elder of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Peoria where he sang in the choir and served as the business manager.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria.

Bobby’s funeral will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 14, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ted Benson officiating and additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral.

Memorials may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Care Ministry or Building Fund.
