

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 11, 1919, the son of Karl & Frieda Gramlich Bollinger. He married Anna Lou Fell on June 25, 1947 in St. Paul, MN.
Rev. Carl Bollinger was survived by his wife of sixty-five years; one son, Carl of Peoria; one daughter, Helen (James) Cummins of Daytona Beach, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Cincinnati where he was a member of Delta Phi Alpha, honorary society. He received his master of divinity degree from the Chicago Theological Seminary where he majored in the parish ministry. He was ordained in the Congregational Church (now the United Church of Christ) on June 18, 1944. During his student years he served a church in Academy, South Dakota in the summer of 1942 and his last two years at seminary he served a church in East Troy, WI from 1942-44. During his full time ministry he served churches in St. Paul, MN; Cincinnati and Sidney, Ohio; and last at Parkview United Church of Christ in Peoria from 1973-1981. During these four pastorates a new edifice was built during his tenure. For this labor he received the Distinguished Service Alumni Award from his seminary. In the 70's he was chaplain of the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Upon retiring he was made Pastor Emeritus of Parkview Church. He excelled in the pastoral calling.
He was one of the outstanding preachers of the Western Illinois Association of the United Church of Christ. He held interim pastorates at Bethel Church, Creve Couer; Union Church at Brimfield; Plymouth Church in Chillicothe and First Baptist Church in Peoria. Following the latter interim he became their visitation minister from 1989-1996. He was also called back to the staff at Parkview Church in 1986 to serve as minister of visitation from 1986-93. He began voluntary chaplaincy at Proctor Hospital in 1999. He was a member of the Peoria Downtown Kiwanis Club.
Rev. Bollinger was a "people person" and kept in contact with many former parishioners, classmates and friends. It was no effort for him to write letters or cards, as he enjoyed penmanship for which he received honors in the earliest part of his education.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Arrangements are being made by Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.
Burial of ashes will be in Vine Street Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH.
