

She was born on July 31, 1941 in Peoria to Steven J. and Eleanor (Carroll) Schmidt.
She married Billie Kitterman on February 3, 1968 in Washington, IL.
He survives.
Carol is also survived by her one son, Allan (Vicki) Kitterman of Alabama; two daughters, Stacie Kitterman of Dunlap and Krista (Joe) Hitchcock of Trivoli; grandchildren, Tyler (Montana) Kitterman, Austin Kitterman, Houston Kitterman, Abigail Bourscheidt, Annika Bourscheidt, and Matthew Bourscheidt, Khloe Hitchcock and Dane Hitchcock; one great-grandson Ezra Kitterman; sister, Stephanie (Richard) Vanaria of California; several nieces and nephews; her beloved cat, Slug; and many cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Cathy Shipp.
Carol retired from Aetna where she was an insurance fraud investigator. She loved all crafts, especially quilting, crocheting, scrapbooking and stamping. She was also an avid reader, loved literature and ice cream. Most of all she loved her family and friends. She had a gregarious laugh and a soft touch and always made time for others. She loved her grandchildren, and was involved with many of their activities whether near or far. Billie and Carol had a deep love for each other, and he took amazing loving care of her. She lit up a room with her smile and she will be deeply missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Peoria. Father David Richardson will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. also at the church on Friday.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
