

Cecile Elizabeth (Mallory) Amerson, 82, of Peoria, passed away at 12:10 am, Thursday, February 23, 2022, peacefully at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. Cecile was born to Cecil R. and Iola E. (Day) Mallory. Cecile was raised in Quincy, IL. She attended Quincy High School in Quincy and Midstate College in Peoria. Cecile had a passion of becoming an architect one day. She loved decorating and remodeling her home with the “best of everything.”
Cecile married Robert L. Amerson (surviving) in Peoria in 1981 and to this union survives, Monica P. Amerson of Peoria.
She married John Henderson Foster (deceased) on September 3, 1957, in Peoria, and to this union eight children survive, Elder James E. (Diane) Foster, Rabbi Brian E. (April) Foster, Rev. Brent E. (Sandra) Foster, Fai (Joseph) Lowe, Todd C. Foster, Kevin K. Foster and Lisa Y. (Foster) Usher all of Peoria, and John H. (Brenda) Foster, Jr. of Memphis, TN.
Cecile worked for the National Center for Agricultural Utilization in Peoria in the late 1960s as a food nutritionist. She then began working at Caterpillar, Inc. as an assembly line worker and retired after 33 years as an order processor technician.
Cecile enjoyed crafting, especially basket weaving and decorating her home. Cecile was an avid Bible reader and it was this love and passion for the Word of God that inspired her to share the wondrous works and salvation of Christ with her children. Cecile’s best achievement was raising all her children. Cecile attended Grace Apostolic Assembly in Peoria and served as a Mother of the Church.
Also surviving is her beloved sister, Suzette Williams of Commerce Township, MI; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cecile was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Emily Foster; three brothers, Patrick Mallory (of Quincy), Michael Mallory (of Quincy), and Robert “Doc” Mallory (of Mena, AK); two sisters, Verna Mae Marshall (of Peoria), Joyce Bentele (of Columbus, OH); and one daughter, Sheila J. Foster.
Home-going services for Cecile will be held at 11:00 am Friday, March 4, 2022 at Grace Apostolic Assembly, 1523 S. Laramie in Peoria. Suff. Bishop James Ware will officiate. Her visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am also on Friday at the church.
Memorials and donations may be made in-lieu of flowers to the Manna Outreach Ministry/Food Pantry.
Cecile will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery 2001 N. University St. in Peoria, with Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria directing arrangements.
