He was born Jan. 7, 1922 in Farmington to Steve and Helen (Budisalich) Gasparovich. He married Angela Forbes on Sep. 19, 1942 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Peoria. She passed away on June 22, 2009 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Andrea O’Donovan of Valparaiso, IN, three grandsons: Timothy, Michael, and Paul, one sister, Helen Gray of Farmington, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was a WWII Army veteran, serving in Europe with the 63rd Infantry HQ Company as a Staff Sargent. Following his time in the military he worked for Bird Farm, and later he was a Chef at Jumers Castle Lodge where he became famous for his hot cinnamon rolls.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church and the Bartonville American Legion. Charles was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
A funeral mass will be Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in West Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria with military honors.
