Charles David Weigel, age 89, of Peoria, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Dave was born on May 29, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Russell and Lela (Harris) Weigel. He married Trudy Falatka on July 5, 1947 in Peoria. Dave is survived by his wife, Trudy of Peoria; one daughter, Nancy Weigel of Peoria; one son, Chuck (Kathey) Weigel of Peoria; three grandsons, Ted (Dawn Dulas) Tiller, Les (Dawn) Tiller and Jake Weigel; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Katie and Brayden. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Peggy Kepler. Dave served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and then he worked for Caterpillar, retiring in 1975. Dave enjoyed woodworking and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 12 noon at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made to TAPS.
