David was born February 18, 1930 in Peoria, the son of Rudel & Hila (Brown) McKinney. He married Hazel Corrie on August 29, 1958 in Peoria.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years; one brother, Randolph McKinney of Arizona, Randolph’s children, Cheryl Toland of Peoria and Doug (Mary) McKinney of Arizona; and many other nieces and nephews, great nieces, nephews and their families.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a truck driver for C.A. Powley for 35 years before retiring.
“Uncle Davey” as he was known to all of his many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews was so dearly loved. He was the most generous man who tirelessly gave of his time and concern for others with sincere humility and always a sunny outlook. He was the guy who you could always count on to get the job done in all of his volunteer organizations. When you spent time with “Uncle Davey”, you would find yourself laughing and rolling over with hysteria listening to him tell any story. If a man is judged by the amount of friends and family who loved him, “Uncle Davey” was a man overflowing with riches. He dearly loved his wife Hazel and all of his furry pets, especially his yellow lab Honey. His death will leave a hole in all of our hearts.
David was a member of Master Lodge Temple # 46, Mohammed Shrine of Greater Peoria, T&T Club, Mohammed Boilers, El Hajj, Elks Club #20, Izaak Walton, and Am Vets Post 64. He was also a member of the former Arcadia Presbyterian Church
