Delbert "Del" Kent

He was born to Leslie and Leona (Leohr) Kent on February 15, 1930 in Owen County, Indiana.

He married Jessica Barton in 1949, and they had 2 daughters and one son.

He later married Doris M Stubbe in 1974. She preceded him in death in 2004.

He is survived by 1 sister, Wynema (Don) Walter of Indianapolis, IN, 2 daughters, Charlotte (Tom) Beadleston of Irvine, CA and Susan (John) Chaney of Washington, IL, 1 son, Bruce (Lynn) Kent of Peoria, IL, 1 step-daughter, Carol Conway of Pekin, IL and 1 step-son, Fredrick Stubbe, of Peoria, IL. He was grandpa to 11 grandchildren, 2 step- grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He worked for Caterpillar for 41 years retiring in 1990. The past 10 years he worked as office manager for Benson’s Automotive Service in Peoria.

Del was a member of the UAW Local 974, past president of CAT Timekeepers Club and a member of the Elks Club.

He was a fanatic race car fan and avid reader. He loved mushroom hunting and being outdoors. In his later years he enjoyed ballroom dancing. He regularly attended the Morton Christian Singles Group.

He will be dearly missed by all his family, friends and customers.

Visitation will be held at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel on Saturday, April 9, 2011, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm with the funeral service beginning at 3pm. Pastor John Chaney of Northwoods Community Church will officiate. Inurnment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, Operation Santa or donor’s choice.
