She was born January 2, 1938, in Bloomington, IL to Elmer and Effie Suttle. In July 1957, she met and married her husband, Gene Miller, in Peoria, celebrating 56 years of marriage together; he preceded her in death in 2013.
Dee was a proud sister, grandmother, and mother. Dee and Gene had four children - Ron (Tammi) Miller, Rich (Pat) Miller, Diane Gore, and Robin Miller. She was welcomed to Heaven by her husband Gene, her beloved siblings, and three of her children; Rich, Diane, and Robin.
She was known for her warmth, humor, and compassion for others, but most precious to Dee was her family. She had 22 grandchildren… 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Dee was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Morton Ward. Dee was passionate about her faith and deeply involved with her church family. In her time in the church, she proudly filled many duties and was a staple in the church’s library and Women’s Relief Society. She enjoyed tracing her family’s roots and preserving their stories through Genealogy. Alongside her husband, Dee worked in the church’s Chicago and Nauvoo Temples for many years, assisting in sacred ordinances central to her faith. Her temple service was among her most cherished callings and reflected her deep faith and love of family.
Dee was always an active member in work and communities throughout her life, no matter where she was. Though she faced trials and challenges, she always wore a smile and never met a stranger. She proudly represented her bowling team as league secretary, served as treasurer for her Leisure Acres retirement community, and worked for many years at Illinois Central College.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morton, IL. Visitation will be from 12pm to 1pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery.
