

Don was born on June 8, 1933, in Peoria, Illinois, the second of two sons born to Thomas and Marvel (Skiles) Irish. He married Carol Lovin on February 8, 1953. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Terrance Irish, and one grandson.
Surviving is his lovely wife of 72 years, Carol, and his four children, Thomas (Gloria) Irish, David (Lynda) Irish, Michael (Kelly) Irish, Leanne (Brad) Dunn, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.
Don was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria. He is a Korean War veteran of the United States Air Force. After the service he was a meat cutter and store manager for the Mac Hy Supermarket chain. He then worked at Caterpillar as a traffic management specialist and accounts payable manager.
He was an avid golfer with a lifetime total of three holes in one. He was also a diehard fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bradley University basketball. He loved spending time with his family.
A funeral will be held on Monday, February 24 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Debra Avery to officiate at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. A visitation will start at 1:30 pm. A reception with sandwiches and snacks will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
