

She was born December 31, 1943 in Peoria to Kenneth and Doris (Stoner) Carter. She married Michael Brodbeck on July 24, 1982 in Bartonville, IL. He survives.
Also surviving are her children Edward L. (Kris) Blackwell of Peoria, Teresa A. Blackwell of Peoria, Lelah M. Brown of Decatur, IL, Michael J. (Nita) Brodbeck, Jr. of Peoria, Krista M. (Mike) Harney of Rockford, IL; brothers and sisters, Janice Thompson of Bartonville, Sheila (Jerry) Estep of Peoria, Rich (Paulette) Carter of Peoria, K. Steve (Marilyn) Carter of Venice, FL; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and son-in-law, Kari (Tim) Thornton, and a brother-in-law, Michael Thompson.
Doris worked 11 years as a cook at Caterpillar for Canteen Food Company. After she was unable to work, she became a proud homemaker. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them. She was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and cook.
She was an avid reader in her spare time. She was also a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bartonville.
A memorial service will be held at 5 P.M., Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Rev. Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 P.M., Tuesday, at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded. Inurnment of her ashes will be in the Chapel of Peace Columbarium at Parkview Cemetery at a later date.
