Enid Rae Knox

She was born on April 5, 1948 in Macomb, Illinois to Delbert & Syrita (Miller) Smith. She married Mr. John Knox. She was preceded in death by her parents and her five siblings, Bobby Smith, Russell Smith, Jerald Smith, Jane Barkow, & Kitty Keene.

She is survived by her son, Brian (Kim) Knox of Metamora; two grandchildren, Tyler (Maddie) Knox of Peoria, & Samantha Knox of Schaumburg, Illinois; a sister-in-law Leesa Railsback of Colorado; & numerous nieces and nephews.

Enid was an animal lover who, as a child, raised a pet racoon & later cared for many pets, including her beloved, Butters, Hershey, Forest, & Shira. Her love of animals extended to neighborhood racoons & birds that she would make sure had fresh water & bird seed. Enid enjoyed reading & was a member of a book club with her granddaughter. She also enjoyed walking her dogs & tending to her garden and yard.

Enid graduated from Zacks Barber College & worked as a barber for Alice's Barber Shop before returning to college after raising her family. She graduated from OSF St. Francis College of Nursing in 1998 & worked as a nurse with St. Francis until retiring in 2015. She will be remembered for her caregivers heart & willingness to help others.

Cremation will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2025 from 1 to 4 pm at the Hanna City Sportsman's Club, 103 S. Main St., Hanna City, IL 61536. Davison Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
