Evelena "Evie" W. Garrabrant

Evelena “Evie” W. Garrabrant, 97, of Peoria, passed away at 9:52 p.m., Friday, March 1, 2013 at Liberty Village. She was born August 15, 1915 in Bluffs, IL to Ferris C. and Sylvia M. (Severns) Sawyer. She married Roger Wheeler on May 9, 1979 in Peoria. He died in May of 1979. She later married Ralph Garrabrant on January 11, 1990 in Honolulu, HI. He died January 10, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Surviving is her daughter Kathryn Taylor of Ventura, CA; two stepchildren Vicci (Bill) Hayes of Lafayette, IN and Ronald Garrabrant of Florida; two grandchildren Dawn (James) Batey of Camarillo, CA and Maria Caputo of Helena, MT; three step-grandchildren Stephanie, Melodi and Tamara; one great-grandson Steven and six step-great-grandchildren; and a cousin Gene (Joyce) Campbell of Peoria. Evie retired from the Engineering Dept. as a draftsperson at the East Peoria Caterpillar plant in 1956 after 15 years of service to become a homemaker. She was a former member of the Transportation Club Aux., and was very active in all respects at her church, Westminster Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the chapel.
