

Floyd Odell Brooks, 89 of Peoria Heights, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 at his home. He was born May 7, 1927 in Gid, Arkansas to Charles and Josephine (Jones) Brooks. Surviving are his children, Laura (Bob) McAllister of Peoria Heights, Gordon Brooks of Rock Island, and Gina Brooks of Peoria; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene (Ray) Vanetta and Doris Jackson, both of Melbourne, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother, one sister, seven brothers, and Barbara Stanhope, the mother of his children. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Bemis Bag Company for 35 years, retiring in May 1991. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, garage sales and sitting on his patio. He also enjoyed playing guitar and singing with many friends at the Forest Park Nature Center and surrounding nursing homes. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, June 16th, also at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dwight Winnett will officiate. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors presented by the US Army and American Legion Post 2 of Peoria. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
