

He was born on July 17, 1947 in Parkerburg, West Virginia to George Edward and Opal V. (Somerville) Olmstead. He married Frances Gosnell on July 20, 2007 in Roselle, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Lisa (Scotty) Robinson of Henderson, NV, Tina Neal, Dana (Kim) Olmstead of Shirley, AR; two step-children, Valerie Espinosa of Huntsville, AL and Timothy (Erin) Espinosa of Charlotte, N.C.; sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; four siblings, Michael (Cindy) Olmstead of Colorado Springs, Co, Jay (Sally) Olmstead Leesburg, FL, Dale (Sandi) Olmstead of Northwest Cleveland, TN, Clara Olmstead of Des Plaines, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Jackie Olmstead and Ronald Olmstead.
George served in the U.S. Navy and then worked as Forklift Driver for Nippon Inc. until retiring. He enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola, Disney and Hallmark Memorabilia.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton is in charge of arrangements.
