Gordon Stone

Peoria - Gordon W. Stone, 81, of Peoria passed away with his family by his side on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Heartland Healthcare in Peoria. He was born September 25, 1934 in Springfield, MO to Sam J. and Elaine (Fayman) Stone. He married Hedy Cole on June 25, 1959 in Chicago, IL. His parents preceded him in death. Gordon is survived by his brother Michael (Misty) Stone, children Mark (Tammy) Stone, Joel (Jackie) Stone and Sally (Glen) Williams, all of Washington, IL. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (fiancé Tyler Hunzeker) Stone, Grant (fiancé Bree Harris) Stone, Sydney Williams, John Williams, Melissa Stone, Jacob Stone, Olivia Stone, and Cassie Stone. Also surviving is his great grandchild, Ellie Stone. Gordon attended Peoria High School and Bradley University. He was an insurance broker for 50 years working with his father and brother at the Stone Agency. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an active supporter for his kids and grandkids activities. He was an avid bowler and a member of the GPBA for more than 40 years. He was a die-hard Cardinals fan. If you were a Cardinals fan, you were his friend. He was a member of Congregation Anshai Emeth and Ben Frankel B’nai B’rith Lodge. A visitation will be from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Wednesday, May 11th at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. A private graveside service for the family will be held on Wednesday May 11, 2016.
