Jan S. Herschel

She was born July 16, 1942 in Peoria the daughter of Louis and Agnes Flanagan Schwabacher. She married Robert J Herschel on August 13, 1966. He preceded her in death.

Jan is survived by two nieces, Alicein (Rebekah) Schwabacher of Bay St. Louis, MS, and Bahiyyih (Jeffrey) Anderson of Atlanta, GA; two great-nephews and one great niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Jan graduated from Bradley University and taught in Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa. She was a past member of Minnesota Educational Association and National Educational Association. Jan was on several boards including the High Point Neighbor’s Association.

She loved gardening, entertaining, and reading. She treasured her family and friends.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home.

Interment will be in a family plot at Springdale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Peoria Animal Welfare Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
