

Janet Elaine Fox McClure, 80, of Peoria, IL went to be with the Lord January 28, 2017. Janet was born on May 6, 1936 in Springfield, OH to Ralph and Ora Hodge. She graduated from Springfield High School and Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, NY with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She worked at WCA Hospital in Jamestown as an ER Nursing Supervisor and a Discharge Planning Coordinator from 1971 until 1983. In 1983 she began working at Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing as a Nursing Supervisor until 1996 when she retired.
Janet was a longtime member of First Covenant Church and the Choir of Jamestown, NY. She loved all types of music, but, was happiest when singing in the choir or smaller ensembles at church. She lived in Lakeland, FL where she continued to enjoy music at church and by singing in “Can Sing, Can’t Dance” at Cypress Lakes Retirement Village. Of late, she was a member of the First Covenant Church in Peoria, IL.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Gerald L. Fox and her grandson Benjamin Allen Pitt.
She is survived by her husband Harry T. McClure whom she married October 23, 2000, her 4 children: Gwendolyn D. (Joseph) Spann, Westfield, NY; Nancy E. (Alan) Anderson, Des Plaines, IL; James G. (Cloefe) Fox, Lawrenceville, GA; and Ruth Anne (Douglas) Pitt, Rock Hill, SC; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer E. (Matthew) Ziegler, Schiller Park, IL, Jonathan Pitt and Hannah Pitt, Rock Hill, SC as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Abigail and Caleb Ziegler; and 6 step-children: Debra McClure Duke, Lois Needham, Chris Eckert, Mike McClure, Pat McClure, and Teresa McClure. Janet is also survived by her 2 brothers: Richard E. (Margie) Hodge and Gary (Ruth) Hodge of Springfield, OH as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral will be held at First Covenant Church in Peoria, IL on Saturday, February 4, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. The church is located at 3616 N. Bigelow St., Peoria, IL 61604.
In lieu of flowers it is requested that memorials be made to either First Covenant Church in Peoria, IL or to First Covenant Church in Jamestown, NY for the Living Christmas Tree Program, 520 Spring Street, Jamestown, NY 14701.
