Judy Karen Headley, 85, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Her life was marked by strength, creativity, and an unshakable devotion to those she held dear.
Left to cherish Judy’s memory is her loving family; daughter, Lora Gaskins, and son, Mark Headley, whose wife Terri Headley passed earlier this year; her beloved twin granddaughters, Sarah (Gaskins) Shookman and her husband, Sean Shookman, and Erin (Gaskins) Berkshier and her husband, Zach Berkshier. She was a proud and loving great-grandmother to Lincoln (10), Jace (6), and Olivia (2), whose lives were brightened by her unwavering love.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Laura Vohland, and her brother, Joel Vohland, as well as her husband, Charles (Chuck) Headley whom she married on January 11, 1958.
Judy was very skilled in sewing and knitting, arts that were both her craft and her love language. Whether she was stitching a quilt, knitting a baby blanket for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, or hemming a dress, each piece she made was a reflection of her care and attention to detail. Her handmade creations will remain treasured reminders of her warmth and skill.
One of Judy’s greatest joys was spending time with her family. Many summers she looked forward to girls trips with her daughter Lora, and granddaughters Erin and Sarah. These annual adventures were filled with laughter, bonding, and memories that became some of the family's most treasured traditions. She had a deep love of water and loved spending hot summer afternoons boating with friends and family in one of the three boats she owned in her lifetime. Judy and her son Mark enjoyed an annual Lebanese meal that they would get from a festival in Peoria, and she looked forward to it every year.
Judy’s legacy of humor, creativity, and family devotion lives on in each of them. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Judy will be buried at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois on Friday, July 25, 2025 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends an hour prior at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel.
