

Karen was born on March 9, 1948 to Everett and Etrula (Noble) Jackson, in Canton. She married Eldon G. Thurman in Peoria on June 6, 1968. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Also preceding her in death by her parents; her daughter, Alycia Thurman; and her sister, Lynn Jackson.
She is survived by her son, Eric (Camilla Loy) Thurman; son-in-law, Rick Thurman of Peoria; her grandchildren, Shannon (Justin) Moore, Brandy (Cole Burgett) Huffman, and Christy Huffman; her sisters, Vicki Bridwell, Ruth Ann (Richard) Pierson, Debbie Lohman, and Kelly Merry, as well as many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Karen was a Bradley Alumni and graduated with a masters degree in social work. She held many different jobs throughout her life including DCFS Coordinator Director for Mason, Logan, and Menard County. She also worked as a Psych Evaluation Counselor as an independent contractor through the state, before she went on to retire.
Karen had an enormous passion for helping people. She helped put together Feed the Firefighter's in Havana, regularly volunteered with the VFW in Peoria Heights, and was known to help or counsel anyone going through a hard time. She even assisted several veterans with getting disability. She was very active in her community, and touched the lives of many.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, from 5pm-7pm at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, with her funeral the following day, Thursday, September 14 at 10am. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery.
