Kathleen Rose Hurley Simmons

Born Aug. 2, 1935 in Peoria to Michael Edward and Rose Bertha (Lubitz) Hurley. She married Charles E. Simmons on Aug. 2, 1952. He preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1971. She was also preceded by her parents; three brothers, Ralph, Mick, Robert; and one sister, Frannie.

Surviving are four children, Charles (Karen), Michael (Debra), Stephen (Barbara), Vicki Hochstein; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Loretta Meiner, Jane Danley, and Jeanette Satterfield.

Kathleen worked as a cake decorator for the South Side Bakery and as assistant baker for Manual High School before retiring in 2001. She loved watching golf, tennis, and the Johnny Carson Show. She was an avid bowler and bingo player. Kathleen was a member of St. John Catholic Church, and was the best mother in the whole wide world.

Cremation has been accorded. Memorial Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel and also one hour before services Wednesday. Burial of ashes will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria at a later date.
