Katie "G-Mom" Cattledge

Katie L. Cattledge, 71, of Peoria, passed away at 11:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at her home in Peoria, surrounded by family. She was born on September 15, 1941 in Ethel, Mississippi to Harvey L. and Lillie L. (Grantham) Washington. She married Freddie J. Cattledge in 1958 in Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children: Jessie Mae and Arthur James Cattledge; five sisters; two brothers and one grandson.

Surviving is her husband Freddie of Clarksdale, Mississippi; six children, Frederick (Cheryl) Cattledge of Chicago, Mary A. Cattledge-Moore of Milwaukee, WI, Jimmy L. Cattledge of Peoria, Brenda F. Cattledge of Belleville, Illinois, Fredrick Thomas and Connie Cattledge both of Clarksdale, Mississippi; three sisters, Emma (and Londell) Mosley, Lillion Lee all of Milwaukee, WI and Dian Glore of Marietta, GA; four brothers, Eddie (and Betty) Washington, Tommie (and Mary) Washington, George (and Etta) Washington and Danny Grantham all of Peoria; 16 grandchildren: Kameya, Elonda, Lacisha, Chenaka, Arnesha, Briana, Elana, Amber, Ashley, and Gregory Hightower, Jr. who she was so proud of for serving in the United States Navy; 21 great-grandchildren: Romelo, Arnez, Elijah, Tamar, Jamar, Ariana, Arreisha, Mekhi, Alexus, Carmelo, Deja, Jayca, Aries, Tylen, Amaya, Khia, Jome, Gabriella, Danielle, Gavin, & Kyla; three great-great-grandchildren: Arnanan, Arnez, & Arraya.

Katie worked for over 28 years with Methodist Medical Center, first in housekeeping and then in laundry until retiring in 1998. She was a member of Rising Sun Christian Church in Peoria. She was a member of the Mothers Board, the Choir, volunteered for the Food Pantry, the Mission for her church, and was attending school at the Common Place in Peoria.

A funeral service will be held onSaturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at Rising Sun Christian Church in Peoria. Pastor John L. Gibson will officiate.
