Keith L. Van Etten, 72, of Hanna City, formerly of Peoria, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He was born on November 29, 1951, a son of William O. Van Etten and Ruth E. (Davis) Van Etten.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, William C. Van Etten.
Keith is survived by his two nieces, Jennifer (Ryan Schacherbauer) Shriber of Hanna City and Jamie (Tommy Messino) Fultz of Yates City; one nephew, William (Staci) Van Etten of Bartonville; seven great-nieces and nephews, Natalie Fultz, Timothy Fultz, Quinton Fultz, Holly Shriber, Lynsey Shriber, Addyson Van Etten, and Brooklyn Van Etten; one great-great-niece, Scarlett Fultz; and one sister-in-law, Gail Van Etten of Panama City, Florida; and friend Janet Penney of Panama City, Florida.
He worked at Community Workshop and Training Center in Peoria for 35 years, retiring in 2009.
Keith was a member of First Christian Church in Peoria. He was an avid bowler, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bears fan. Keith also loved watching basketball. He was the first graduate in 1973 of the Trainable Mentally Handicapped Program of Heading Avenue School in Peoria. Keith qualified for the Illinois Special Olympics also in 1973.
Keith's graveside service will be at 1:30 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Rev. Hank Anderson will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.
