

Larry L. Clauson, 78, of Peoria, IL passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 at his home with all his family around him. Born September 14, 1937 in Peoria to Walter K. and Mildred L (Van Order) Clauson; he married Mary Lyons in 1956 in Peoria. He then married Judith Hart on January 8, 1983 in Peoria and she survives. Also surviving are his son, Larry A. (Barb) Clauson of Hanna City; grandchildren, Jennifer Clauson and Michael Clauson (Lindsey Swadinsky); sisters, Sandra (Elmer) Schaufelberger of Peoria and Carole Donath of Princeville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents and brother Walter “Junior” Clauson are predeceased. Larry was a US Navy veteran. He worked for the Hiram Walker’s Distillery, Schmidt Produce and the Hillcrest Drive Inn and he was the owner of Bagley Brothers Insurance in Peoria and Best Coil, Inc. He was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Peoria. Larry was also a member of the Hiram Walker’s Rod and Gun Club, Limestone American Legion Post #979, Amvets Post 64, the Farmington Moose Lodge #1571, the Elks Lodge #20 of Peoria; Kickapoo Sportsman’s Club and the Hanna City Sportsman’s Club. Larry loved to hunt, fish, camp, and play cards with friends. He also participated in several bowling leagues. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears and enjoyed rides with the “Bicycle Club.” Larry will be remembered as a savvy business man who was always willing to help other folks in need and who loved his grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday, June 21st at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 22nd, also at the funeral chapel with the Rev. John Bagley officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford. Memorials are suggested to the Maranatha Baptist Church, OSF Hospice or the Illinois Cancer Center in Peoria.
