

He was born June 18, 1917 in Cross Plains, Wisconsin to Adam and Mary (Annen) Ripp. He married Mary Jenkins April 16, 1955 in Peoria. She survives along with four sons: Paul (JoAnn Coco) Ripp of Winston Salem, N.C., Tony (Anne) Ripp of Peoria, Thomas (Tammy) Ripp of Peoria, Robert (Clare) Ripp of West Peoria, eight grandchildren: Veronica, Katelyn, Kyle, Kelli, Adam, Lindsey, Steven, and Logan Ripp, two sisters: Tillie Austin of Black Earth, WI, and Theresa Murphy of Middleton, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Lauren Ripp, two sisters and six brothers.
Larry was a 50 year member of the Steamfitter’s Local 353 retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church. At church he was a member of the Men’s Club, Maintenance Committee, Senior Citizens Club, and was a Scout Master. Larry and his wife Mary enjoyed volunteering at Bel-Wood Nursing Home for the weekly Mass. Larry loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved telling jokes and making people laugh, and he never met a stranger.
A funeral mass will be Monday Feb. 6, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 1113 W. Bradley Ave, Peoria, IL.. Visitation will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in West Peoria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Catholic Church.
