He was born Oct. 15, 1925 in Jefferson City to Abraham and Mary (Herman) Cohen. They preceded him in death along with one sister, Helen Ulevitch and two brothers: Charles and Julius Cohen. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Lester was a United States Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific Ocean during WWII. He worked as a merchant at his family department store in Jefferson City and later owned and operated a shoe store. He also was a pilot for many decades.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Temple Beth El in Jefferson City, and attended Agudas Achim Synagogue and Chabad of Peoria.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Peoria Hebrew Cemetery. Rabbi Eli Langsam will officiate. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
