He was born January 24, 1922 in Pope County, IL to Owen E. and Faye (Butler) Ragains. He married Mary Frances Futrell in June of 1944 in Dixon Springs, IL. She preceded him in death in May of 2006. His parents, one brother and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, James (Margo) Ragains of Peoria, Joel (Mary Ellen) Ragains of Kiev, Ukraine and Byron (Jackie) Ragains of St. Charles, IL. Also surviving are one brother and one sister, six grandchildren, Melody, Sean, Zack, Ben, Clark and Cameron and seven great-grandchildren.
Lowell served honorably as a Corpsman in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II. He was a graduate of SIU, Carbondale and received a MDiv Degree from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. He was an ordained minister for many years and was a member of Dayton Ave. Baptist Church
A private memorial service for the family will be held. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Parkview cemetery at a later date.
