

Marilyn Johnson Smith, 78, of Peoria, passed away at 9:15 AM on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Richard Owens Hospice Center in Peoria. She was born on January 27, 1936 in Abingdon to Wayne and Elsie Kilpatrick Hummel. She married Melvin Johnson in 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1996. Marilyn remarried Terry Smith in 2002. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria.
Marilyn was a homemaker, and also had been the head cook at Christ Lutheran School. She will be remembered for her love of flower gardening.
She is survived by her husband Terry; four children: Debra (Gary) Lawrence, Neal Johnson, Wayne (Tatiana) Johnson all of Peoria and Douglas Johnson of Peoria Heights; 13 grandchildren: David, Deanna (David), Darren, Douglas, John, Sean, Angela, Gary, Timothy, Thomas, Ashleigh (James), Wayne Jr. and Douglas Jr.; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Melvin, one brother and one sister.
Visitation will be Monday February 10, 2014 between the hours of 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Davison Fulton Funeral Home in Peoria. Marilyn will lie in state at Christ Lutheran Church on Tuesday February 11, 2014 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 10:00 AM. Reverend Karl Eckhoff will officiate.
Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials may be made in Marilyn’s name to Christ Lutheran Church.
