Carolyn, Matt, John, and Mike-
Since learning of Mark's passing, I've spent much time grieving for you, lifting Mark in my prayers, and you also, that you find peace and strength as time goes on.  I am truly sorry for your loss.  I have faith that the Lord will find ways to provide you comfort.

I have been gifted with a true friendship shared with Mark,  initially founded as classmates at Bergan and becoming close friends after both living in Peoria area after college.  We rented a home at the farmhouse in Edelstein, IL, where we bonded even mores and grew as friends in the following years.  So many memories were made together including the trips out West to see John, sometimes accompanied by Frank, Mike, and other friends that shared  Mark's passion for hiking and camping in the back country of the West.   I  remember us once being detoured from a snow trail in Glacier National Park to a lower trail where it rained for so long,  Mark, John, and I were holed up in a small tent for about 24 hours.  The area was so mosquito infested that we only left the tent for necessities and when we did, we covered every inch of skin to defend against bites.   In tolerating those miserable conditions, and each other to a degree, there were more laughs and fun in that tent than anyone could ever have.   That's the kind of person Mark was - if served lemons, he made lemonade.    He made the best of every situation.   
Mark was a real "people person" and cared tremendously about his family and friends which is why so many  share in the love you have for him.  There are too many other stories to tell from my friendship that demonstrate the many qualities everyone loved, and always remembered in Mark.

Sadly, I was unable to attend the visitation and mass for such a good friend because I was very ill with the flu.  Alternatively,  I will find appropriate means to make personal tribute to him,  and continue to keep you and Mark in my prayers.

Dear Alaksiewicz family,
I’m very sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. Mark and I were very good friends in the mid-90’s while we worked together at Multi-Ad. I’ll always remember the vacation we took together to see his Aunt in Nevada, onto the coastline of California right down to Tijuana Mexico. It was an adventure of a lifetime. Mark was one of the best human beings I ever had the privilege of knowing; he would give the shirt off his back for someone in need. All of this you know, but as I live in Florida now and am unable to attend the services, I wanted to send my condolences to his entire family. Your loss is great, but I pray your  memories of Mark will see you through this time of pain.

How deeply sorry and saddened we were to learn of Mark's death.  Our hearts are aching for you and wish we were there.  I have tried to reach you by telephone but have been unable to find a phone number for any of you.  If you would like to talk to us, we would love to hear from you. He loved sports and the outside, and how well I remember him talking about all of the soccer games and other sports he participated in.   We have so many good memories of all of the boys growing up across the street from us on Mission Road and the fun we had with them.
