Martha Elizabeth Thomas

Martha was born on November 8, 1932 in East St. Louis to Henry Noble and Mildred (McKee) Potts. She married Howard K. Thomas on August 30, 1952. She lovingly cared for him until his death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Noble and Bill Potts.

Martha is survived by her children, Howard (Kathy) Thomas, Jr. of Morton, IL, Becky (Tim) Erickson of Morton, IL, Tami (Pat) Banister of Peoria, IL and Tina (Dan) White of Peoria, IL; nine grandchildren, Sean, Andrew & Courtney Thomas, Chris (Courtney) & Caleb Erickson, Jason & Sarah Banister, and Aaron & Jordan White; two great-grandchildren, Kendall & Quinn Erickson and her sister, Bonnie Brown of Peoria.

Martha was a loving wife and mother. She graduated from Woodruff High School and after her children were grown she worked as a housekeeper for St. Joseph’s Home for over 20 years. Martha enjoyed bowling, gardening and doing crossword puzzles.

Martha was a petite but “mighty” person. She always said the bigger they are, the harder they fall. She was not only a great talker, but a better listener and she always made everyone feel welcome.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10am at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel on University in Peoria. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Parkview Mausoleum in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or Wounded Warriors.
