

Born at home in Peoria, on July 3, 1934, she was the fourth child of the late Nathan and Nettie (Cohen) Caplan. She was a 1952 graduate of Manual Training High School. On May 23, 1954, she married Harold A. Seavers. They made their home in Peoria Heights for 53 years. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending family vacations in Florida. Following retirement, they spent winters in Arizona, and took trips to Branson, MO. They then lived together at Lutheran Hillside Village. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2013.
Mary was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family. Mary is survived by three daughters, LuAnn (Jack) Woo of Morton, Linda (Lonnie) Rieker of rural Ohio, IL, and Lisa (Dennis) Mack of Dunlap; seven grandchildren, Susan (Rhys) Rivera of Morton, Harold (Elaine) Woo of Johnstown, CO, Laura Hopps of Princeton, Brenna Rieker and Rachel Rieker of rural Ohio, IL, Bryce (Megan) Mack of Peoria, and Paige (Jacob) Stopa of Chillicothe; and five great grandsons, Owen, Logan, Nathan, Glenn, and Sawyer. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence and Bertha; a brother, Meyer; and a grandson-in-law, Brandon Hopps.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
