Melody Lynn Roberts

Melody was born to George E. and Eleanor (Klinger) Starkey in Normal, IL on October 29, 1947. She married Dan Roberts on November 30, 1968 and he survives. She is also survived by her son, Christopher (Kate) Roberts of Bartlett, IL; her daughter, Megan (Dale) Losher of Pekin, IL; two grandchildren, Nathan Losher and Quinn Roberts; her brother, Kent Starkey, of Knoxville, TN; her sister, Joy Spitz of Springfield, IL, and several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Melody graduated from Peoria High School and attended Illinois State University and Springfield College. She was employed by a number of insurance agencies and by Bradley University. Her longest tenure was with the Downtown Rotary Club of Peoria, where she served as the Executive Director for 24 years. While working for Rotary, she was recognized as one of the Outstanding 25 Women in Leadership in 2007.

Melody’s greatest joy in life was her family and few things made her happier than making them happy. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She served as a Den Mother, Girl Scout leader, sports mom and a Sunday School teacher. She took a special delight in her grandchildren and they had her wrapped around their little fingers. After her family, Melody’s greatest love was to travel and she traveled throughout North America, from the Canadian Rockies to the Gulf Coast, from New England to California, to the mountains and national parks in Montana, Colorado, Wyoming, and Arizona. She was always ready to plan her next adventure.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of Melody’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Woolsey- Wilton Funeral home on Willow Knolls Road. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
