Mike was born July 30,1946 inTerra Haute Indiana and moved to Peoria at an early age. He graduated from Peoria High School and attended Bradley University until entering the Army in 1968 where he served with the Army Medical Corps in Vietnam. After returning he worked at the former Zeller Zone Center where he met his wife Patricia Weisbruch, and they were married on December 18, 1971. She preceded him in death in 2021. They had no children.
In 1973 Mike returned to school and graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield Missouri and practiced for several years in Ohio. After returning to Peoria he worked for LaMeSy Consultants and Fayette Companies in the Human Service Center department in the mental health field. He retired from the Human Service Center after many years of service.
Preceding Mike in death were his mother Virginia Parrett, wife Patty, brother Maurice, and sister Linda Lew. Surviving are his brother Robert (Ann), and sister-in-law Susan Wright (Dean) and several nieces and nephews.
Mike was a gentle, quiet, and very caring husband, brother and uncle who enjoyed helping others. He was a talented do-it-yourselfer tackling many home improvements and helping his wife with her many craft projects. He loved feeding and watching the backyard squirrels and was especially fond of his "kitties." He and Patty rescued many cats over the years and couldn't refuse when called about another homeless kitten. Together they volunteered in Haiti on several medical mission trips with Friends of the Children of Haiti.
Graveside services will be held at Parkview Cemetery on Tuesday, July 23 at 10:00 AM with Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in charge of arrangements.
